There's always things to do in Melbourne. Here is some of our favourite city attractions for you to discover. Our Concierge team are always available to tailor a more precise itinerary for you based on your interests.

AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL

From March until September, Melbourne is all about “the footy”, that is Australian Rules Football. It is a passion that runs so deeply in Melbournian culture that you will not really understand Melbourne unless you go to a game. There are two great stadiums in town – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and Etihad Stadium, and there is a Hilton walking distance from each of them. Games are very family-friendly, and the National Sports Museum also located at the MCG  is well worth a visit.

FEDERATION SQUARE AND FLINDERS STREET STATION

Old meets new here at the intersection of Swanston and Flinders Streets. Completed in 1910, the old station is a beautiful building and presents a classic photo opportunity. Federation Square is a unique feat of modern architecture with great open spaces, bars, restaurants and galleries.

FAMOUS DINING AND ENTERTAINMENT PRECINCTS

For great food in the city, visit the central business district Laneways including Little Collins Street, Flinders Lane, Little Bourke Street’s Chinatown and Southbank. A little further afield is St Kilda, a great place to watch the sunset with a cocktail in hand or Lygon Street,

GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS

Take time to visit fascinating galleries and museums. Popular attractions include the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) and the Ian Potter Centre, both at Federation Square, as well as the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and the Melbourne Museum.

PARKS AND GARDENS

Spend a relaxing time in one of Melbourne’s world-famous parks and green spaces including the Alexander, Birrarung Marr, Fawkner, Fitzroy, Carlton, Flagstaꈀ and Queen Victoria Gardens.

QUEEN VICTORIA MARKET

Get a feel for the city by immersing yourself in the atmospheric bustle of Queen Victoria Market. Enjoy fresh produce, food and pastries or visit stalls to shop for clothes, bric-a-brac, cheap CDs, DVDs and much more. This must-visit location is open daily except for Mondays and Wednesdays.

DAY TRIPS OUT OF THE CITY

To get a real feel of Australia’s vast open spaces, head out of town for a day to the ocean beaches of the Great Ocean Road or mountains such as Macedon Ranges and Spa Country. Wineries in the Yarra Valley and Healseville, as well as the  Ballarat bush, are all must-see attractions too.
